Bio: The band that would become Insignifica started out as a conglomerate of random people and ideas from Warrensburg Missouri. Music education major Justin Herdzina (guitarist) was invited by guitar player and music education major Kevin Burton (singer) to a jam session consisting of four guitar players in the spring of 2003. The band acquired a drummer, moved one guitar player to bass, and asked one of the guitar players (Burton) to sing. After the dissolution of this jam band Burton and Herdzina agreed to continue to write music and bounce ideas during the summer of 2003. In early fall, Herdzina and Burton asked current Blues Trip drummer and jazz commercial major Seth Randolph (formerly of Synesthesia, Strange Comfort,) to jam on songs that were written over that summer. Randolph was intrigued by the work and agreed to play drums. The band then acquired Seth's brother, a bass player from Springfield, Josh Randolph (of Synesthesia). Due to time constraint, Josh was unable to continue to play in the band. Insignifica was forced to find another bass player. Luckily, the band became aware of jazz commercial major Tom Ray's (formerly of Strange Comfort) interest in the band. They quickly asked him to be apart of the band. This line up of four individuals, now referred to as "Insignifica", worked on new music and edited old music to fit the expansive styles of the new players. Insignifica played their first show in the fall of 2004. They are currently working on an album that will be released January 20th 2006.
